  1. This looks soooooo good but I've sworn off white flour so I can't have the dough. I'm doing a baked apple with my favorite "Back to Nature" granola. I think "you" gave me that idea a while ago. ;-) Need to lose more weight through healthy eating. One day when I'm at a safe healthy weight I'll try the dumpling.

    1. This dumpling is made with 100% whole grain dough and is actually very healthy.
I made the dough by combining 1/2 tsp yeast with 3/4 cup warm water and let that sit for a few minutes. In a separate bowl I combined 2 cups 100% whole grain flour (much like this kind http://www.bobsredmill.com/graham-flour.html) with 1/2 tsp salt . I think poured the yeast and water mixture into the flour, mixed it all together and then kneaded it for about 5 minutes.

To make the dumpling I peeled and cored an apple, filled it with almond butter and sprinkled it with cinnamon. I then took about 1/4 of the dough and rolled it our flat and wrapped it around the apple. I baked it for about 15 minutes at 200 degrees.

It is probably healthier then granola which can be loaded with extra sugar and fat. You should give it a try!

  2. Thank you Ave, I will give it a try. I have to go buy some whole grain flour as it's not a staple in my pantry. ;-)

    "Love to you"

  3. Somebody's into Almond Butter in a big way!
Thanks for the recipe Avery. Sounds like we're going to have to have breakfast when you get back to Ithaca!
